our story
Lela is a 16 year old athlete, whos dream is to play soccer at a collegiate level at the university of Connecticut. In may of 2026 lela developed an eating disorder that not only put her out of soccer, put her out of school, friendships, and damaged relationships. on September 7th, 2026 Lela attempted to take her own life.
30% to 44% of student- athletes throughout High school into their collegiate carrier struggle with, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.
A comprehensive 20-year study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine reported that 30 female student-athletes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) died by suicide between 2002 and 2022.
